It's That Time Again...

...Time for a Metroland fashion issue! Clearly, I was not consulted... though they did manage to pull two pieces worthy of my approval... one Free People tunic (left) and a Ryu one-shouldered dress, both from Some Girls boutique.

Holiday Ideas: Goodies to Give and Get

1. Seven Deadly Sins Votive Set- an edgy twist to the classic votive.

2. Tarte Tres Cheek Set (Limited Edition)- colors that flatter all complexions and are delightfully convenient in size... not to mention the irresistible packaging.

Gossip Girl

Today, at coffee:

Olivia:
You remind me of Blair on Gossip Girl. She looks like you. That ugly British guy is in love with her and can't get it up for anyone else. You should start watching it.

Question: Who plays Blair?
Answer: Leighton Meester.

Maybe, on a really good day, do I look like Leighton Meester.

SEEN... On my brother: Olde Tyme Style

My brother (far left) demonstrates the charm of this era's apparel. If so inclined... one could gather fashionspiration from this classic tale...

Good Buy: Influence

Whatever your feelings are about le Olsens, I feel this book simply cannot be overlooked. I'll admit that it appears high on my Christmas list. You can find it in any bookstore, and, of course, on Amazon.

Buzz... A Very Colbert Christmas

Talk about great fashion.

Love of my life, Stephen Colbert, has merged comedy and musical goodness into one spectacular special.

Guests include: Feist, John Legend, and Elvis Costello.

Though it's already aired, Comedy Central will continue to show the program throughout the holiday season- just in case you may have missed it. You can also purchase the soundtrack on iTunes, and/or buy the DVD (now in stores).

Better yet? A portion of the proceeds go to charity.

ALERT!! MAC + Hello Kitty= FABULOUS

I've died and gone to cosmetics heaven. I'm no longer ashamed to admit my (formerly) secret Hello Kitty fetish... so what if I (hypothetically) own a Hello Kitty notepad, robe, socks...???

Now MAC has gotten on board, and I'm loving it:

“To me, MAC Hello Kitty embodies the ultimate beauty icon,” said Jennifer Balbier, senior vice president of product development for MAC Worldwide. “She’s sweet and sexy, slightly edgy, and appeals to a wide range of customers."

“MAC has been mining pop culture since the brand was founded,” said John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. “This is a sexy and innocent fashion line, and a true MAC moment. In these times, everyone can use a little fun — and a little Kitty.”

I couldn't agree more. The line hits stores February 12th, 2009.

THE Belt

I was never a fan of the studded belt, but for $10, I'll buy just about anything. And if Carrie Bradshaw says it's OK, well, who am I to argue?

What's Hot? Fringe!

New trend? Fringe! Jil Sander (shown above) and Alexander McQueen are all over it... so is Sienna Miller (below).Get your own at Forever 21, for only 22.80

My Adventure in the Macy*s Shoe Department

Apparently I looked like some sort of retail spy, snapping pictures in the shoe section... despite lack of flash... and actually, who knows if it's legal or not... but anyway, I only got two pictures worth posting- luckily they are of the two pairs of "shoes" (I say "shoes" because one is actually a boot) I must purchase or I will certainly die of heartbreak. Both are BCBG.

The boots are priced at $148.00 on Zappos, and the shoes are listed around $110.00

Reflection: Free People

The thing about Free People is that most of the time they make some ridic looking apparel. Like, no, I am not a fancy peasant from the days of yore, nor do I want to pay $108.00 for that specific look.

But then, seemingly out of nowhere, they come out with something so irresistibly ethereal that I cannot condemn them to Hades for all of eternity:

The image cannot do it justice- you will just have to go find it at your local Macy*s and have a look for yourself. Really, the bead work is exquisite. I had $200.00 cash on me and almost forked it all over for this pricey piece ($188.00)- especially as the weather has been exceptionally mild and could totally get away with wearing something like this...

In addition, there was quite an attractive little black number I would also recommend (for those who are partial to the "drop waist" look):

This Looks Genius:

The Brothers Bloom- from the writer/director of Brick.

These Items Need To GO:

If I see any more of these I am going to scream:

Uggs are the winter equivalent of Crocs. Which are also stupid. BUT, if you are dedicated to the Ugg brand, like I am to LeSportsac, perhaps go with these instead:

(they are also available in black and chestnut, and will set you back about $300.00)
