Heinous: SNUGGIE AT FASHION WEEK???
That's what I call, uh-uh.
Granted, I do actually want a Snuggie.
I do not, however, want to see a Snuggie anywhere NEAR a runway... or near a dog that looks like a rat.
Then again, I do not want to see dogs that look like rats anywhere. Just like I do not want to see this [see below] anywhere:

Animal prints do not make this product OK to put on a runway!
I want to see the Snuggie where it belongs- on T.V. or at Staples.
And I am right. Because I say so.

HEINOUS: Designers, WHY???
Laying in bed last night, reading Elle, I came upon something completely and totally disturbing. Though it is widely known that fashion trends recycle themselves every 20 years or so, I was alarmed to find that the "it" looks for Spring include HAREM PANTS and SHOULDER PADS. WHY, GOD, WHY???Harem pants may be able to pass on the runway, but in REAL life? No. They never work. Except for maybe a few people in NYC.
And shoulder pads? No. Absolutely not. Maybe I'm being close-minded about these recycled '80s trends, but really. Come on now. These are SHOULDER PADS! And HAREM PANTS.1. I do not want to look like MC Hammer.
2. I do not want to look like a linebacker.
I would to prefer to come off as feminine and dainty. Luckily, other Spring 2009 looks include: bralets, animal print dresses, bondage dresses, and crop tops...????
Designers, I am not impressed. You have failed me.
Oh, and you can wear pajama pants on the street now- so long as you pair it with a structured top and statement necklace.
Edie Sedgwick: Still a Legend
Edie Sedgwick gets a lip gloss, courtesy of Armour beauty. In the early '90s, LORAC founder Carol Shaw named her lipsticks after Hollywood clients of her makeup salon. There was Claire (as in Danes) and Jennifer (as in Aniston), plus Lisa (Kudrow), Julia (Roberts), and Gwyneth (you get it).
Now rocker-turned-makeup-queen Theo Kogan borrows the idea with Armour Beauty, her new line of eco glosses. "We just named the lip glosses after everyone we tried to dress like in high school," she laughed. "So there's Barracuda for Ann and Nancy Wilson and Nirvana for Courtney Love..."
"We knew there was a need for color that could last through anything - a show, an after party, an all-nighter," explains Theo, "But we also didn't want women to put tons of chemicals on their faces." Which explains why Armour is committed to eco-fueled, cruelty free ingredients.
"You can't do a rock show with just lip gloss," grins Theo. "You need eyeliner, eye shadow, glitter, hair stuff... I mean, I want it all!"
--FARAN KRENTCIL
Armour Lip Color finally available at Wonderland Beauty in NYC, or on their website.
-----------
I purchased the Edie gloss... and suffice it say, it is fab.

It's That Time Again...

...Time for a Metroland fashion issue! Clearly, I was not consulted... though they did manage to pull two pieces worthy of my approval... one Free People tunic (left) and a Ryu one-shouldered dress, both from Some Girls boutique.

Gossip Girl
Today, at coffee:Olivia: You remind me of Blair on Gossip Girl. She looks like you. That ugly British guy is in love with her and can't get it up for anyone else. You should start watching it.
Question: Who plays Blair?
Answer: Leighton Meester.
Maybe, on a really good day, do I look like Leighton Meester.
SEEN... On my brother: Olde Tyme Style
Good Buy: Influence
Whatever your feelings are about le Olsens, I feel this book simply cannot be overlooked. I'll admit that it appears high on my Christmas list. You can find it in any bookstore, and, of course, on Amazon.
Buzz... A Very Colbert Christmas

Talk about great fashion.
Love of my life, Stephen Colbert, has merged comedy and musical goodness into one spectacular special.
Guests include: Feist, John Legend, and Elvis Costello.
Though it's already aired, Comedy Central will continue to show the program throughout the holiday season- just in case you may have missed it. You can also purchase the soundtrack on iTunes, and/or buy the DVD (now in stores).
Better yet? A portion of the proceeds go to charity.

ALERT!! MAC + Hello Kitty= FABULOUS
I've died and gone to cosmetics heaven. I'm no longer ashamed to admit my (formerly) secret Hello Kitty fetish... so what if I (hypothetically) own a Hello Kitty notepad, robe, socks...???Now MAC has gotten on board, and I'm loving it:
“To me, MAC Hello Kitty embodies the ultimate beauty icon,” said Jennifer Balbier, senior vice president of product development for MAC Worldwide. “She’s sweet and sexy, slightly edgy, and appeals to a wide range of customers."
“MAC has been mining pop culture since the brand was founded,” said John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. “This is a sexy and innocent fashion line, and a true MAC moment. In these times, everyone can use a little fun — and a little Kitty.”
I couldn't agree more. The line hits stores February 12th, 2009.
